2015/4/10 MotoGP - Curcuit Of The Americas

My friend, photographer Steve Lawrence, gave me his general admission ticket to the first day (Friday) of this year's Red Bull Grand Prix Of The Americas' MotoGP racing event. Steve scored a media pass, so don't worry about him. This is the first professional motor sports event I've ever attended, so I'm a complete newb at photographing fast moving vehicles. I have watched some races on TV, so based on that I had a plan in mind before heading over to the COTA park. As a professional driver (for a limo company) I've delivered a lot of customers to the venue, so I had a rough idea of the layout of the place. I Google-Earthed the heck out of the place the night before and decided the East side is where I needed to be. As you browse through the gallery, I'll let you know, in the captions, where I'm shooting from and which direction I'm aiming, and I'll let you know when I move shooting locations.

I had a blast shooting. I was fortunate in that I got to shoot the motorcycles in everything from pouring rain to blazing sun as the day progressed, so enjoy the visual variety as much as I did!

I noticed in looking at racer stats that the biggest rider in any class only weighs about 150 lbs! Most weigh around 130 lbs. Repsol Honda's Hiroshi Aoyama.
    Team Suzuki Ecstar's Aleix Espargaro.
More tight shots of the MotoGP class bikes in Turn 8. The track goes uphill here, but I thought the images looked racier this way.
